Recently, a very good friend and member of Melton Mowbray Lions (CIO) has published a book, “A MOMENT IN TIME”, Melton Mowbray Premier Shire Town of the 1830’s.  Derek Simmonds undertook this project for two reasons, firstly his passion for our town and secondly to raise funds for a little-known neurological disorder “STIFF PERSON SYNDROME (SPS) from which his wife suffers.  Melton Mowbray Lions (CIO) have been pleased to support this project with these books being on sale in the Community Hub in the Bell Centre, Melton Mowbray at £20 each, with all profits going to support research into this disorder.  So far Derek has been able to donate in excess of £1,500.  If this book is of interest to you or you wish to support this good cause, please contact us or call into the hub and order your copy.
